Brazil

Hot, tropical, exotic. Scenic islands, a long coastline and friendly people of a different culture make Brazil a fascinating and memorable place to sail.

Sailing the Northwest Passage

The Northwest Passage -- the ice-choked Arctic passage between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, is sometimes navigable. Issuma's 9,000 mile journey started in Toronto, and ended in Vancouver. Giant icebergs, pack ice, weather, fierce headwinds and equipment failures added to the challenges.

Length: 35 - 40 minutes before questions

The Cold South

Issuma's challenging voyage to cold, wild, remote Antarctica. Sailing from Ushuaia, Argentina to Antarctica, then across the South Atlantic ocean to South Africa.

Length: 35 - 40 minutes before questions

To Patagonia

Lying at the bottom of South America, its rain-drenched, mountainous coast lashed by the strong winds of the Roaring Forties and Furious Fifties, sparsely-populated Patagonia is a remote, wild and spectacular place. This is the story of a voyage down the Pacific, from Vancouver, to remote and mysterious Easter Island and then to and through the islands and fjords of Southern Chile's Patagonia.

Length: 35 - 45 minutes before questions

Two Months Alone

Finding himself unexpectedly without crew in remote St Helena, and wanting to get to North America before hurricane season, Richard Hudson sailed his 50' schooner, Issuma, singlehanded from the South Atlantic island of St Helena to Virginia. Almost two months alone at sea was a great experience for him, which he will explain, as well as share some of the technical details involved in singlehanded passagemaking.

Length: 35 minutes before questions
